1941 17' Barrel Back interior floor boards
Hello - I need some help understanding how the floor boards are secured in the forward cockpit of my 17' Barrel Back. When I purchased the boat the interior was removed so I am now trying to piece it back together with the parts. Once that is done then I can duplicate the parts that need replacing.
Problem I am having is figuring out how the forward board is mounted. I assume it is mounted at an angle but I don't see how it is secured. Attached are 2 pictures. Once of the boards in place to help you understanding what I am asking. Then the other pictures are "other parts" that were all together & maybe they are part of my solution? The "other parts" must go somewhere are they are stamped with the 17 on them. Thank you.

Yes the footrest board is screwed in at an angle. I think there should be backing boards that attach to the side frames to support this angle.
Not sure what all those other boards are for. There are full length mahogany trim pieces at the lower front of the seat bottoms, that screw into the frames holding up the bottoms, but whether those are in this group or not, not sure?

I might add that the floor boards go in after the ceiling boards are in place. Also there is trim, at least in the 37-39 model 17' boats, all the way around the front seat back as seen from the second seat. perhaps some of those pieces are for that purpose?

I don't have a Barrel Back but I do have the same angle footboard on my boat The board is secured to two blocks that mount to the longitudinal battens. One face of the block is angled to match the foot board.
You can see them in the attached photo.

The first six pieces are for attaching ceiling boards between main frames. The two pieces with the angled cuts attach to ceiling boards to hold your kick board. The last two get screwed to port and starboard frames to hold ceiling boards flat up forward, where you have kick board resting in you pic.

This may help. There should be a varnished board that sits on top of the angled front foot board. I have more pictures if you need any more information on the boat.

Yes, Thank you. That picture helps. I do have that varnished board you mention, I figured that out the other day, it's notched so it can mount at an angle. I will let you know if I need more pictures. Thank you.
