Proper Fasteners for Step Pads

Would a show judge please comment on the correct fastener type for the chrome plated, rectangular step pad? The boat is a 1949 25’ Sportsman. I seem to recall a judge told me many years ago that the screws are chrome plated, oval, slot head but would appreciate confirmation.

Not a judge but my guess would be Chrome Plated oval head Reed&Prince

That is correct, they should be chrome reed and prince I belive #8 X 1 1/4 in the thick part outboard and #8 X 1'' in the narrow inboard part.
