1947-54 U18 Rudder
Anyone know if there's another rudder that will work for a 1950 U18? I know the original part number I need is Rudder #849, but haven't had much luck finding one. So I was just checking if there's another model close enough to use in its place? Or if anyone knows where I can find a #849 or a reproduction of it then that would suffice. Thanks in advance.

If you haven't already, check with Algonac Cast Products. They are descendent from original "Algonac Foundry" that likely made them originally. It has been reported that they still have many original patterns and are now more interested in accommodating the hobby. We had them cast a "run" of struts for the 27 custom a few years ago from an original since they no longer had original pattern. We had to order 6 to get one at that time but have heard under current management they are less demanding if pattern available. We were very satisfied with result. Have a few extra if anybody needs one.

without doing the research: didn't somebody get all that running gear inventory NOS that Jim Wick (spelling?) and some other fellow had down in Florida years ago? I would bet Jim Staib knows who/where.....? John in Va.
