Oil Filter
I'm closing in on the completion of my 40-year restoration for 1959 CC Continental 283 cu. in. I've been unsuccessfully trying to install the cartridge oil filter with canister. I cannot get the 9-3/4" bolt to engage the threads inside the engine. It appears that my "original" bolt may be about 1/4" short. Is this normal???? I know the canister and bolt are original however the 283 block is remanufactured. Do you think there may be something missing inside the block???? Any help is appreciated!
Re: Oil Filter
If it were me I'd install a spin-on filter kit. Make life easier trying to change the filter later on.

Re: Oil Filter
Thanks Jim! I have indeed purchased the spin-on conversion kit for the oil filter. The engineer in me needs to know why the original filter won't work!!!! I agree, the spin on will be less messy!!!!
