Graymarine 120 conversion
So, turns out the 1950 18 Chris-Craft Utility project I bought came with a 1956 Graymarine 120 sitting in the engine hole but no attempt had ever been made to hook it up. Currently working on getting the engine to run, which has proven to be pretty difficult because I cant seem to find any info at all on the Graymarine 120 model. So if anyone has had any experience with this model and might have a picture of each side and the top to help me with an oil routing diagram, that would be awesome. And does anyone have any experience with swapping in a Graymarine in the place of the original Chris Craft engine? Trying to figure out different pressure line/rmp gauge/propeller size etc. Any info is greatly appreciated

Any idea what model engine it originally came with? Hull card would state that.

No I'm not sure. I haven't contacted the Mariners Museum since they opened back up to get the hull card. It is hull number V-18-815 though according to the paperwork I got. Which the V seemed odd to me, but I guess I need to get in touch with the museum

Plate on top of the transmission says it is Engine #H10573
Different stamped markings on the engine block : A600. 11-12-56. 75001. 75039
Stamped tag on the carburetor shows 12055B

Re: Graymarine 120 conversion
Yes, I'm assuming the V was either mis-stamped or mis-documented. The paperwork I got with the boat is questionable at best. She was obviously left to rot away for I'd guess about 30yrs out in the elements, and I've been bringing her back from the grave. the 18-815 has been confirmed by the markings I was able to find but never actually saw a full V-18-815 stamp. Currently 2 years into the rebuild. All construction signs point to it being an 18' 1948-53 Utility. There isn't any plywood on the boat.jim g wrote: ↑Sun Aug 11, 2019 3:55 pmV means its a Caviler. Honestly I should've known better than to even start to bring this one back, but I couldn't let another one be turned to fire wood.
