Hi All,
I am assembling a flywheel forward Chris Craft 283. I have been told that the Barr replacement exhaust manifolds won't work because of an internal casting change and that Osco manifolds are no longer available. I have been also told that original Chris Craft log manifolds with casting dates from the early 70's and earlier will work but from he late 70's will not. Does any one know the exact casting dates that will work or can the log be visually inspected to see if it has the correct passages for a three pass system that the 283 conversion needs? Can the diffuser be seen in one of the passages of an original 283 exhaust log?
Thank you,
Sloboter

Re: 283 Chris Craft exhaust logs
When you look down the inside of the manifold each passage goes from one end to the other. I would check the part number (7056) and make sure it is the same.
