Re: I'm Back with a new old boat
Mike,
Thanks for the video. It shows a good overview of what your up against. I could lie and say it's not that bad, but I have to say, that is a major undertaking. That's an awful frame repair that was done on the bow. Only way to fix that is to tear it off and start over. You might be able to reinforce the sides and cockpit from under, but it won't be easy without taking the whole deck off. If it was my boat I'd want to get her on the hard and see what's going on with the bottom before anything else. Keeping her safely floating is the priority. Everything else is optional after that. Good Luck! Keep us posted.

Hull Card for X-40-503:
https://plus.google.com/photos/11361535 ... 0311562427
Shipped one year, to the day, before our previous Chris Craft!
I also purchased from eBay the ship's papers (manuals and stuff) for X-40-506, lots of good information. Two little booklets look to be from pre-war for runabouts. Will scan and post later under a separate topic to find out.
I finally got around to replacing the last bilge pump. When I went to take it out it came on. I replaced it any how since they don't have rebuild kits for the lovett pumps any more. Perhaps I'll keep it for looks with the raritan crown converter charger that does not work. I gutted it out and plan to install a modern charger in the old case and remount it.
Things are moving along. the fungus is now dead thanks to a mixture of borite and borax. I put a bunch of herny's wet patch in the hole under the rudder support and slowed down the leak. Moved the battery next to the lectrasan as a test and it cured the low voltage issue so now I have a working san system! I'm looking at the idea of two house battery banks . One under the vee birth and one aft to deal with voltage drop; two batteries in each bank. The calculations for the lectrasan and windless cables show the are two size too small .
I'll take all the small wins I can !
Went O.C.D. and put everything on a microsoft project gantt schedule and it helped me get it out of my mind and then start focusing in on the important and low hanging fruit as to cost. Still plan for the one hour trip to the haul out in Feb so I got to get motivated .

Just a year, and a month, after AB. Same engines.
Interesting Lucky Girl was built in Algonac while American Beauty was built in Holland.

Good to see you back at it again, Mike!
Been a while, hope to see you out on the Delta or the Bay real soon. I sold my '65 and bought a 1960 Connie. I still have a lot of work to go before my gal is worthy. Soon...
