Trying to acquire a 1957 46 foot constellation
Hi there its been a while since I posted . There is a 1957 46 ft constellation on facebook that I am interested in acqiuring . It is currently in need of a new home , it has no engines another project boat for sure . You would think I had enough project boats over the years but nope I guess not . The inside apperently needs a lot of work . It is in the water n floating I would have to have it towedto a new location. The pictures show that the hardware is all there n the paint n bright work scheme is correct. If I do get the boat i was wondering power it with deisels or gas is the question?????Well we will what happens waiting on pictures of the interiore to see how bad it is.

Yes I saw this yesterday as well and thought the same thing. If you do get it you will need to post pictures.

I agree with John. Don't consider anything without knowing the true condition of the hull. Always start at the bottom and be a skeptic.

Hmmmmmm, big project.

I think it would be a wonderful thing to help preserve such a great classic. Obviously it is a large endeavor, and one needs to enter into a project like this with one's eyes wide open. I am glad there are those out there doing this so we have at least some of these neat cruisers still around.
Also i note that during this period cc offered the diesel option on boats just a bit bigger than this. I suspect most go with diesel for economy, durability, and safety (no fear of gas explosions). Either way, one probably needs modern power to eliminate a whole series of headaches that otherwise might crop up. Let us know what you decide to do.

Don is right on about this being a worth project...it is just a big one....as to the gas or diesels...diesels on that boat, twins, would be heavy, smelly, eventually shaky and hard to start in the cold....that said they are not floating bombs and last forever....tough call.....You would want to re-tank her anyway so that is of little concern either way.
