New Chris-Craft 20ft. Vertical Bow for 2013 - NEEDS A NAME
Chris-Craft is pleased to announce a new 20ft. Vertical Bow series for 2013!
The first will be an open deck version, that will make its debut at the Miami
International Boat Show in February 2013, with the closed deck to debut
in July 2013.
Chris-Craft! We have a problem!
We don’t have a name for this new vertical bow series and thought we should present
them to you first for your opinion.
If we choose your suggestion we will send you some cool Chris-Craft swag (and you will
also get the bragging rights!)
We look forward to your feedback!
Respectfully yours,
Chris-Craft Corporation

Great responses!
We want to make sure that we honor this new boat with the proper name to fit her heritage looks.
Note: Don, you can have it any color you want. We do all of our painting in-house now. Send us the color code from your favorite tie and we'll send you a boat to match!

Kirsten, I think that you should honor her with the name of the last wooden runabout that Chris-Craft built; The 1968, 20' Grand Prix.
I'll attach a photo of one that attended the ACBS International Boat Show last weekend as soon as I can download it. They are beautiful as is the new 2013 Runabout.

New Chris Craft
I personally thought Riviera but Bill Baldwin's group voted for Constellation after I addressed them.
Y'all see the references to the new 36' in the current Boating magazine and to the new 32' in the current Boat US magazine...Good work Kirsten !

If you changed the rear deck on the closed bow version and added a big gold fin you would really have something . Seriously, I get sort of a Capri or Riviera feel from this. It would pay homage to revive an old model name for something like this.
Boats are to be made of wood, otherwise, God would have grown fiberglass trees.

new Chris
hard question, I like both versions of deck, but Laurie wood prefer the closed bow model with some upgrades. to include, mahogany rear deck treatment with powered hatch or hatches, also a special order HEMI , and nice copper exhaust pipes out the sides. name? still thinking ...

It is a custom or riv.. HAnds down. The flags on the bow and stern are dorky as hell. If its going to be a riv or custom. The bow flag should rake towards the stern and not be a detail from a pre war. This boat clearly has post war cues. Embrace those and name it something traditional that continues a line. Nice work.

I just caught this thread today for some reason. Love the fact that this design steps out a bit from the usual plastic boats, and hearkens back somewhat in a tasteful but not faning manner.
I TOTALLY agree with Matt though, rake those flag poles, and why metal? Key them of the wood accents. Surely wooden flag poles can't present to much maintenance for a modern boat owner? I think that the wooden poles would be a crowning homage to the post-war runabouts that appear to have influenced this styling exercise. Nice job, can't wait to see one in person. How about Sunnyland next spring, Chris Craft? I am positive we could arrange a display with a 20' Custom or Riviera!
