Fuel

Post by Stenz » Sun Jun 03, 2012 4:16 pm

Hello all,
General question regarding fuel; I have a 1966 Chris Craft Sea Skiff 22' with the original V-8 210hp/327ci engine. Would love to hear your opinion about lead fuel additives - necessary? Brands?
Thanks,

I used Valve Tec and it fouled my spark plugs big time. Since then I've come to realize you don't need any additives. Just use a good fuel filter.

Stenz;

Welcome aboard.

There has been a lot of discussion on fuels and oils and you should take a look in the engines and power train sections.

Thanks

Stent, We have a 1967 22' Sea-Skiff and like yours has the original 327. We run it on regular pump gas ( 87 oct. e10 ) with no problems. As Gary say's,use a good filter and change it often. No additives. Have fun, John

I have a 1961 flywheel forward 283 in my Sea Skiff. I use ethanol-free pump gas. Locally we have both 89 and 93 octane ethanol-free available. I do not use any additives.
