1960 roamer 35
Hi I recently purchased a 1960 35 roamer cheap . I paid $2000.00 for it . Not that I need another boat but it is all original w/ 430 cid lincolns a rare engine to see still in a boat.I really like the 430/427 ford engines , alot of people repower and scrap them , I like the original engines in boats as much as possible . I got it for half the asking price . It needs paint and varnish plus some one painted the galley area white so I will have to strip it all down n revarnish it . I also purchased a 35 Corinthian w/ twin 327s that one is ready to go w/ a flying bridge .It also has the original engines in it . I will use the Corinthian for a charter boat on lake Ontario and the roamer for my personnel vessel!!! Classic boats are the way to go yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!

John I have been following 61seaskiff42 for a bit now. If my count is right I think this makes about the 5th big cruiser. He is a real inspiration (or he will be headed to the funny farm and just does not know it yet).jfrprops wrote:Wow! You ARE a brave soul! Two big cruisers? Good for you. Am I right? There is a '61 42' Sea Skiff with forward raked house. Very Cool Boat! Another Roamer maybe? About a 40' DCFB (maybe) that was in Long Island. Did that one make it up the Hudson this past summer?
In case you were looking there was a complete yard in Rhode Island featured in Bone Yard Boats last year that needed to get rid of about 20 or more cruisers.

Re: 1960 roamer 35
I did resell a couple of boats I hope they are still going ? I try to save as many as I can cause they really mean a lot to me . I grew up in a marina full of wooden boats and some steel roamers It was aspecial place witch ment the world to me as I grew up to realize that these works of art are sadly fadeing from the land scape every day . How could you destroy something so lovingly crafted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Every year I would wait for launch day as the ice went my father was always the first in n last out every year at Trade a yacht marina in brewerton ny on the Oneida lake portion of the great erie canal .I owned my first woody a 1929 28 acf as a 17 yr in high school. I still see that boat every once in a while (I drop a tear of pride to know she is still enjoyed n love d by some one )I am currently the owner of 3 boats two woodies and 1 steel roamer I am hoping to resolve the problem w/ the 42 custom seaskiff marina in ohio we will see on that one. T he latest is a 1967 35 Corinthian ready to go n a 1960 roamer 35 w/ the original 430cid lincolns . I couldn't let either one have miss fortune . I work two jobs to pay storage and restoration costs 60 hrs a week . So many times people take out the original power from yhese boats I feel that kills the charm . I love old flat heads 430/427s /327s n so on the technology is there to save them . I have actually had parts made for old engines ( cnc machines rules) ANy ways I will quit rembeling BUT I DO LOVE AN OLD WOODEN boat N ALWAYS WILL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
