Re: 327Q Project
What about the copper tube that is currently connected to the existing manifold and the choke on the carb? Can this be routed to something else, like the intake? I assume the automatic choke opens when warm air from the exhaust manifold enters through this tube.
Also, the original Q setup has two small copper line on the top of the exhaust manifolds going to the intake manifold that are to release any steam buildup in the exhaust. Can I plug the holes in the intake and eliminate them?

The part that the choke tube goes in is a heatsink. the exhaust gas goes around it and heats it up. Then the warm air goes up the tube to the choke. You can convert the choke to electric very easily.
The small copper tubes were there to eliminate air pockets at the top of the manifold. With the edelbrock manifolds you don't need them. But you might need them to get rid of air pockets in the intake. I'll look at one and see if there needed.

Re: 327Q Project
The small tubes are for steam to escape the exhaust, so I don't see any reason to keep them. As far as the choke goes, do I have to convert to electric or can I relocate the copper tube to somewhere else?

Re: 327Q Project
It's been a while since my last update.
I am very near completion on the entire project. Engine is finished and installed, with just a couple of loose ends to tie up such as belts and final wiring. I hope to fire it within the next few days.
The boat is wet sanded, buffed and has all hardware back on except for two trim pieces on the interior. The interior is all complete except for the final assembly of the front seat, which is ready, but I built a new base and have to have the engine cover in place before it can be fully finished.
The plan is to make her debut at the ACBS Bluegrass Rendezvous next Thursday at Lake Cumberland.

Anything that will handle 280-300HP! I use 93 with Lucas Fuel treatment.

Looking good, Andy! Looking forward to seeing a feature on this boat and your restoration journey in the Brass Bell soon.
Be sure to take lots of pics at the launch.
