I have just purchased the "LADY J" here in Tacoma, WA. She had fallen to abandonment at a marina, and was about to be scrapped. I literally bought her out of the slings, as she was being hauled out to be destroyed. I am looking for anyone that has any knowledge of her history. I would settle for something as simple as, "I saw her cruise by once." She is on the hard now, and I'll start wooding the bottom Monday. Aside from a couple sprung planks in the bow, a hole in the aft cabin roof, and a broken cockpit hatch support, she is in remarkably good shape for her age. All of her trim and hardware are present. She has what appear to be newer 283's that actually fired right up once I bypassed the fuel tanks, and every electrical system on board has been replaced within the last seven to ten years.
I will be restoring her former glory, and invite input from those that know anything at all of her past life.
Thank you,
Matthew

Congratulations, looks to be very original. Sorry I don't know anything about Lady J , but I own a 1948 Double Stateroom Enclosed. The early post war cruisers are fabulous boats. We'll worth the save and the restoration. Post more photos.

Matthew congratulations and thank you for rescuing her. I also have a 1947 40' DCEB. Her Name is Mai Tai and we're moored at the Port Orchard Yacht Club where there are lots of CCs and lots of knowledge about them. My email address is [email protected] if you ever feel like talking about 47 CCs.
Re: 1947 Chris Craft DCEB "LADY J"
Congrats, Matthew, I have a 1947 CC 36' "Sacre Bleu" being redone at the Port Of Everett by Alan Thomle out of Stanwood. He is amazing when it comes to these types of boats. Keep sending pictures.
