55' Holiday, does this look right?
Hello all! My wife and i joined the club and are in the process of looking for a CC to take home. I've been doing some research and found a 1955 Holiday in my state. However, there are a few things that look "off" and I wanted to see if anyone could provide insight.
It would appear to me that inside planking is missing, i assume they all had finish planking. Here are a couple pictures of the one for sale i'm looking at. Assuming the planking is missing, fair to assume that should reduce the value?
Also looks like some had the cushion on the engine cover and others didn't?
Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

Interior planking (ceilings) not standard on Holiday series. Engine box cushions not standard.

Cosmetic issues are easy to rectify.
You should do your homework on the condition of the bottom and engine.

They are 100% correct. Comments and boat. I like these without all the fancy stuff. The seats look off? As to cosmetics. THE BOTTOM is where the money is. BOTTOM BOTTOM BOTTOM. Engine is also another deal, but not as costly as a bottom. Easy 20K job. As in an easy 20K. So if the boat has an original bottom and is 15K lets say, you are looking at a 35K boat. Add a trailer 38, Add a rebuilt engine 45K, And that boat with a new 5200 bottom is a 20-25K boat. Fiberglassing over an old bottom is NOT a new bottom. BTW.

Pretty much all the previous post's are correct. The Holiday was a basic version of the Continental. If in doubt on the ceiling boards look for screw holes in the frames.

Awesome, appreciate it! I have been researching, but obviously a lot to learn. Agreed, the seats don't look right compared to most of what i've seen.
Engine was replaced with a rebuilt one in 2006 according to seller, same KL engine. 1997 had a "full" rebuilt, and a west bottom was installed. Again according to the seller.
Here is one of the ads with the rest of the pictures. Pretty pathetic pictures for trying to sell a boat like this.

POP Yachts over prices a lot. Kl is a great engine. Lots of power. West bottom can be tricky depending on who did it and the age. Everything is bonded together forever. No swelling, like 5200 Allows that to happen. This is a 10K boat, not 20. The boat in in Florida, someone in the SUNNYLAND chapter may know the history of it. Also, if you are looking for a boat. Come to the Lake Dora event in March. You can try many out there. Depending on the water you are using her in.

I assumed they marked it up significantly due to being a broker. I think POP is in FL, the boat is here in Wisconsin.

POP has a reputation for hijacking other's ads and/or listings without authorization. I have, on more than one occasion, found boats for sale on their site without seller's knowledge. You may want to search around for a possible original listing.

I am less skeptical than the rest....maybe with scant reason...but the pics look ok to me...not at that price to be sure, but that could be a diamond in the rough...a barn find on the net...where you almost never find a bargain and have to be so careful...still...worth checking out and at half the price a steal. just mho....John in Va.

Trying to get questions answered was painful as well. I ended up finding a few boats at a local shop about an hour south. Looks like we will be picking up a 47 Deluxe Utility tomorrow pending the water test. Has a newer 5200 bottom and in great shape overall. My wife and I are pretty excited!Greg Wallace wrote: ↑Mon Sep 21, 2020 7:05 amPOP has a reputation for hijacking other's ads and/or listings without authorization. They had a gorgeous all original 59 continental, but the bottom was original and we will be trailering in and out so we decided that wasn’t the right fit as this time.
