Hi Friends,
I need a source to ship from the east coast to the mid-west. Have you had experience with an open bed shipper?
My boat is a mahogany 21' C-C that needs hull repair. Your advice and recommendations are appreciated!
Best and thanks!!

Re: Boat shipping
Do you have a trailer? There are companies and individuals who can tow it for you. I think it is going to be very difficult if you don't have a trailer.

Jim is right. But if you get someone from the place thats doing your hull, they can come from there with an empty trailer. Might help, the boat repair place I am sure is motivated to help you. Also, there are places on the east coast that can do amazing work on your hull. What state are you in.

There are a lot of places that deliver RV's from the Elkhart Indiana area and are always looking for a load back.

Central VA location.
I have a trailer specifically fitted for the Capri. The boat needs to go back to the shop that did the restoration. So that finishes can be matched with the familiarity of the original work obviating a new learning curve etc. It has a 5200 bottom and the repair needed is part of the cutwater. The damage is significant...

Re: Boat shipping
I am in Eastern VA on the Northern Neck. Matching color isnt that big of a deal, and depending on where the damage is, they may have to take it all down to the wood anyway. Did you ask the shop? If not the go to guy is John Freeman. He tows boats allover the place. I dont recall the price though, and because of the COVID stuff not sure how that all plays out. I will add its not all that uncommon to do a hail Mary roadtrip. Roadtrips are the best.
