Boat Buzz Modifications

Post by Bill Basler » Sat Jul 05, 2008 9:50 am

I have had numerous requests from a number of our members to provide a "place" where discussion can take place relative to Chris-Craft's ties to other legendary boat builders.

I have modified Boat Buzz to serve this need. I have set up discussion categories for Gar Wood, Riva, and Thompson, arguably the "big three" manufacturers with ties to Chris-Craft.

Gar Wood, Riva and Thompson enthusiasts, speak up! There are a lot of crossover topics, and a lot of new information that can be learned by all.

My point was the big three with direct ties to Chris-Craft—through ownership of the two companies or partnership.

Century? OK Mark, you dared me. Century is on as of this morning. Now, let's hear some Century discussion. And to justify the category name, Century Connection, let's hear about stores about Centuries connections to Chris-Craft. Certainly there are many stories to tell.

Here's one. It took me a century to get my dang boat restored. Way to go Bill. This should open up some very cool conversation.

Century, Riva, Garwood Connection

Post by E-J Ohler » Fri Jul 11, 2008 7:07 am

Hey guys Bill is right. Aren't they all built out of mahogany (philipine) with straight, 4 or 6 cyl inboards derived from automotive engines, or even V-8's.
They all are beautiful. I take any Riva, Garwood, or Century today, already took a Thompson (although OB)
If I were a classic (antique) wooden boat enthousiast I look at all info I can find on them and as the CCABC and the BoatBuzz & Brass Bell are the best in the business, I would end up here anyhow.
Just my 2-cents.
Thanks,
E-J
