Re: Round brass tag?
Looks like an asset inventory tag. Do I see screws holding in place? Anything written on it?

Re: Round brass tag?
No numbers appear to be stamped in it and can’t see any writing on it.
Re: Round brass tag?
It looks like something was rubbing on it and wore a hole in it. Could it have been put there to protect the wood from whatever was rubbing like maybe throttle linkage?

Re: Round brass tag?
Maybe that’s where the pickup for the self-bailer was located?

Re: Round brass tag?
This is a better shot of the location. Im assuming this is the self bailer? Looks like the pickup could sit in that location. Is there supposed to be some sort of support to hold the thing in place?

Re: Round brass tag?
That appears to be the original location for the pickup end. I do believe that it should be a solid copper tube without the hose section. I think we solved your mystery. A lot of times these bailers get removed because if the siphon break hole gets plugged at the top of the tube it may reverse flow with catastrophic results.

Re: Round brass tag?
So the rubber tube should be metal?
Could this lend to the possibility of the bottom being original?

Re: Round brass tag?
I'm not totally sure about the hose, someone may chime in on this. It's quite possible the bottom is original, there are a lot of them out there.

Re: Round brass tag?
It should be replaced if there are any signs of cracks but totally original.

Jim I’ve been combing your website and making a list. Reached out to you about a bow light a few weeks ago thanks for the follow up hoping to get an order into you soon.

Re: Round brass tag?
I have never seen anything like that. Not saying it couldn't be from the factory but we have done a lot of bottoms and restorations
for almost 30 years and Iv'e never come across one. The open end of the self-bailer should be over the top of it because that's where it would have been from the factory and it should also have a rubber hose on it like shown. It would have also been tied to the tank strap with a copper wire. The bottom looks original to me and if your going to have the boat judged at the Tahoe show or the ACBS International I would not put the tag back. There's really no proof that it came from the factory but on the other hand there's no proof that it didn't either. Personally I don't think the factory installed that little tag.

Re: Round brass tag?
Thanks maritimeclassics. Probably won’t worry too much about judging, think I’m missing too many original items to go down that road.
