Al, I am working on the D-17 a present. Didn't mean to point fingers.I am just so new to the hobby and I am really struggling with this. I have people who say 5200, and I have good boat restorer's that swear by west systems applied correctly.

Bottom and boat resto.
Has anyone on the form viewed the videos from "Classic Connections Inc." I am interested in Vol.2, Use Of West System's in restoration and repair of classic boats. How good are they and how much detail???? There is no return policy, so advance info would be helpful. If you would feel more comfortabl...

Thanks Al that's the way I was leaning because they look so good. That saves me $236.00 that I can drop into another hole somewhere down the line on this project

Stringer Replacement?
Need a metallurgist imput. I am replacing the stringers on my Deluxe 57 17'and I have noticed that the #14x4" silicon bronze screws are in great shape. They are beefier than new replacement #14's. There is very little if any blueish corrosion. Should I replace these with new or reuse? Phil

Hope someone can help me out. I recently purchased a 1954 Racing Runabout Hull # 496, and am puzzled by the dash instruments. I have talked to Pat Powell and he said they are correct, but would like further comfirmation. They appear to all be of the same age. On the port side I have a 4" Oil/Amp gau...

Frank:
I would suggest West Systems anytime you get into plywood. A good book is "The Gougeon Brothers On Boat Construction". It's the West System boat building bible. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the quick but discouraging replies. Guess I will try to beat the bushes and see what falls out. Al if I find anything I'll let you know, and please do the same. I know the "Bear" has a new one but I don't think we can sneak in while he is sleeping:) /(Tom)
