I've never seen any used ones for sale. I am missing a few letters. You can get a brand new set from California Classic Boats.

Just went to My Account to update my address and it said my membership expired last June and the Spring Brass Bell would be my last issue. I was never notified that I recall. Are we losing members because of this?

My online account has remained active. Curious whether new brass bell was sent to me.

Matt, Here is some original Decoray flooring. It's up at Sierra Boat... go get it! http://s17.postimage.org/3sj5dr2ez/IMG_2383.jpg Funny, i check their site regularly. More funny, I've talked to Herb about Decoray before - he showed me some marmoleum samples he thought were suitable, but we never d...

Is this the green??
I've come to the conclusion it looks like this, though I have seen several different seam and cushion patterns.

Brian, just saw this thread. Any factory photos of mint green? Do we know what flooring this is? Good stuff.

Mine (545) shipped on 12/18/56 with Mint Green, with the later dash, later guages centered in the dash.

Blonde Redux

OK. So I watched all 13 segments. Lots of cool info. They (Forrie and his son [name?]) talked about blonde sections in Segment 10 just past the halfway mark. Forrie says they bleached the wood, and his son said the only stain was "natural" filler stain. Nothing else. Don, or anyone else, what would ...

in a video available only on Boat Buzz! Here is the link - I remember at the time this was posted, not making it through all the segments - guess it's time to sit down and watch. http://www.chris-craft.org/video/fkanipe/forrie.html Don, is your blonde stain process similar what CC (Forrie) did, or ...

I really can't understand how you can be so narrow minded as to go off on me just because I suggested there was more value in the parts than the package. I answered the original question - between $1 and $5,000. Or whatever someone feels they want to pay. That was in my first post. I didn't "go off...

Matt Wells' facetious and vaguely derisive comment about younger affluent people buying boats that are done or paying people to do the work is vastly inaccurate and narrow. Why would you suggest that these folks are any less fun or valuable than others who may do the work themselves? I don't think ...

Pardon the rant, but to me, this is kind of a philosophical question, one that seems to spur comments from folks about project boats being a waste of time because of the associated costs. Since when are boats in general, let alone classic wood boats, investments that if they don't guarantee a profit...

Steve, it looks like the tops are curved facing the engine side, as opposed to a squared end?

I'm guessing 7/8" thick? By about 2"?

Thanks again.

Capri Engine Compartment / Rear Seat Back Supports

Hoping some Capri folks can chime in on some pieces I am missing. There are two upright supports that connect the frame that separates the cockpit from the engine area. The fasten to the stringers on the inboard side (see attached pic with orange circles - not my boat). I am missing these and need s...

As a west coaster who will likely never step foot in the Mariners Museum, this would be huge. I would gladly and repeatedly pay money to have online access to just those records. I'm sure a lot of other folks would as well.

I am for anything that helps any old boat make a comeback. Including the donating of bandwidth and making the idea of club dues an honor system of sorts? What does it cost to run this website? How much does the bandwidth usage vary month-to-month on a cost basis? Do we have metrics on member vs. no...

I voted for $75. My income bracket is probably along the low end of the spectrum among the folks in this hobby. The timing is never great to part with money to renew with ACBS. I'm also looking into joining the U.S. chapter of the Riva Club (it's $125/year and I don't personally own a Riva). That pa...
