Re: Can Anyone Identify this? 32 ft, 1939 +/-

Sorry for the late reply... Just goofing off on the internet looking at all the "recent" Boat Buzz threads... This must be a 1937 32' Enclosed Cruiser. There is no photo of this boat in 'The Essential Guide" (at least not the first edition), but it looks very similar to the 1937 35' Enclosed Bridge ...

Re: KFL won't start after it sits for 20 mins

Just a wild guess... Vapor lock? Not sure if it can happen on older boats like these, but I was having a similar sounding issue with my newer fuel injected ski boat. Might could try pouring cold water around the carb bowl area and see if the issue goes away?

Post-war 17' Deluxe Runabout

Saw one of these for sale online, but I don't know much about them. Ad claims 1949; but it's pretty rough. It appears to be one of the ones with the triple carb KBLs with the engine hatch bulge. Engine number appears to be maybe 51060? Looks like there were about 1900 of these models total... anyone...

Re: 283 Chris Craft Engine Valve Covers Replacement

I'm a little bit late on the reply, but... I think I read that the 283 were a chevy small block? If that is the case, any one of those might work. I know they have tall and short style, and they have perimeter and centerbolt style. From looking at photos the 283 ones look to be the perimeter bolt on...

Post-War Custom Hull ID Numbers

Okay, things are still muddy about what my boat actually is. The consensus was that it may be home built. Lonnie Sieck stopped by the other day to have a look at it, and he is unsure as well. He mentioned that it is possible that this is R-20-079, just hacked up and modified. I'm not getting my hope...

Re: Another boat that needs ID help!!

Thanks, I agree with all of that. I did notice in all of the hull structure photos I looked at online had the longitudinal stringers, which are absent on my hull. So do we think it was from some old plans, or did someone just make this up? It's old enough to use slotted bronze (or maybe brass?) scre...

Re: Historic Archive Help?

That's great! Thanks for checking into that. I've been looking around for items to help try and identify my boat, but I'm having trouble. The more search terms I input, trying to narrow the results, the more hits I get. Plus, I'm not quite sure what to look for. Is there anyway to access some sort o...

Historic Archive Help?

I can't get the historic archive search to return any results. Am I doing something wrong?

Re: Another boat that needs ID help!!

Thanks for that info, Joe. This is a great start. Isn't there a registry somewhere that I can search? I assume that the boat has been destroyed since I have all of its stuff, but it is worth a look. I heard back from Jim Hooker at the Mariner's Museum and he relayed that the 18 foot runabouts (1932-...

Another boat that needs ID help!!

All, New member here... Bought a boat a couple of weeks ago advertised as an "18 foot Chris-Craft runabout" but I am having trouble identifying it. Haven't found any hull ID numbers yet. Most of the top deck and engine hatch area is missing. It seems to have hardware from a post-war Custom, but my u...
