Re: Finishing the hull CC semi enclosed 1951
Hi, just a update. We are finished on the hull now and it looks fantastic. On your advise we used 4200 which worked really good. I think is is more suitable for the job. Luckily it was available in Europe and on stock. The proof will be when we put her in the water, we hope the seams stay intact and...

Re: Finishing the hull CC semi enclosed 1951
Hi, the Interlux Y31 seam compound is not for sale in Europe, I checked with the manufacturer, it is produced in the USA. The suggest to use 3M 5200MC which I am not so sure if that is correct. What do you think ??

Finishing the hull CC semi enclosed 1951
Hi, I am refinishing the hull. It was painted 10 years ago and in my ignorance I let the painter put car filler over the seems. It cracked all the time a few hours after it was in the water. This winter I decided to make the hull completely blank up to the bare planks. Now we started painting and af...

Re: Hand rail needed
Thanks for your reply. Do you know where to purchase these pipes. I live in Europe and this particular diameter in stainless steel is not available. This is what I have now, and the diameter is just off which means it does not look identical to the other one and I cannot fix it very well since it is...

I have a problem with the port side transmission of my ML engine in a 1951 semi enclosed. During manuvering at a dock suddenly the control was lost on this transmission. Bendix sticks
Dear all. I am just finished reinstalling the engines ML 1951 after 15 years no use. I tried to start dry to see if the starterengines work. I noticed that the bendix sticks in the flywheel and does not go back automatically. Is this a sign of a problem or does the flywheel push the bendix back when...

Old Salem Copper Bronze Banned in Europe
Dear Pasi. I see you have a sedan which is probably the only one in Europe. I have just bought a '51 semi enclosed which is pretty rare in Holland as fas as I know. With my boat I received 6 cans of Old Salem copper bronze which I am not going to use. Interested ? From a paint dealer in Holland I he...

bottom sealing
Hello, I have a '51 semi enclosed and I am new to the restoring of wooden boats. My boat has not seen any water for the last 12 to 15 years and the gaps between the bottom planks are on some spots up to 0,2 inch. Although many people told me it will swell I am a bit reluctant to let the boat into th...

Thanks, will look for it.
I am not a technician, but I will check with mine if the termostat can give savings. Maybe if it makes the engines to warm much quicker this will have a positive effect, but worth the try.

fuel consumption
Hi Jim. Thanks for that info, your right about the weight saving, better to have some extra capacity. Regarding the last comment I am interested in this solution. In Holland petrol cost is double price to US so fuel savings sounds good. How can I add a termostat and Pertronic ignition on my Hercules ?

fuel consumption
Dear Jim.
Thanks for your answer, but I was trying to go the opposite direction with a smaller tank to save weight.
I understand the consumption is relative to speed, rpm, but on normal cruising speed at a lake what would the use be you guess?
