Epoxy bottoms
I have recently seen boats listed with epoxy bottoms which require no soaking. Anyone have opinions on this? Is this a viable option?

Re: Shore station for wooden hull boat
Thanks very much for your response! I take the boat for spin at least once per week. Is the "lift time" too long for the wood to dry?
Also, if I keep the hull exposed to a few inches of water supported by the lift do think that would that minimize critical wood shrinkage?

Shore station for wooden hull boat
I have 1958 ChrisCraft and it is in the water in a slip for the summer. For convenience and protection from rough water, I am considering for next season using a shore station (lift). If I keep the hull just inches above the water will moisture retain the wood swell to avoid excessive leaks? Rick (u...

Fiberglass for wood boat bottoms
I just saw several Chris Crafts advertised with "leak free fiber glass bottoms". Has anyone had experience
with fiberglass bottoms, pros/cons, how to?

Boat Handling
Bobby, It's great to see that us marginal pilots have a sense of humor. I will get a copy of Chapman's, however, experience from other boaters is always the best. I am greatly relieved that I am not the only one with this handicap. I thought I lost my touch even though I am totally capable of piloti...

Boat Handling (stearing a single engine CC)
I have owned my 1958 23 ft Continetal for 5 years and am still not totally comfortable stearing into a slip or docking. I am not new to boating having owned many boats including sail boats, but precission stearing with my Chris Craft continues to be a challenge for me.

Tanks everyone for your advice. i will now be a more sucessful varnisher. I talked to Interlux tech services this morning and they were surprised at my "bad" experience with their "new & improved" Schooner Gold. They did, however, suggest that thism product needs to be diluted by 20-25% with their b...

Thanks fro your quick response. What thinner do you recommend? Brushing liquid 333 did not work.
Has anyone any better experience with Pettit Captain's
varnish?

Previouly used Interlux Schooner which is now replaced
with the higher viscosity Schooner gold. Results were disappointing in that I had "runs" and heavy brush marks. I followed up with brushing liquid dilution withno better results. Any suggestions?

Hull Cleaning
Thanks everyone for your suggestions. Dish soap worked for both the scum and the mineral deposits. For the stubborn areas, I had to repeat the process several times.
I will try Murphys soap next to test the effectiveness.
Again, thanks everone.

HULL CLEANING
My 1958 Chris Craft is in a fresh water lake for the season. By this time the hull is caoted with mineral deposits and the typical water scum. How can I clean this off without damging the varnish finish. Using a brush or using a vinegar solution did not work.
