Re: Clearance between prop and rudder
Excellent! Keep us posted on your results. The cutless bearing and propeller are two others that will cause vibration if not in good working order.

Re: Clearance between prop and rudder
Good job on the puller! You may want to replace that loose coupler with a new one. I had the same situation. When I showed my coupler to the place where I got my new SS shaft they said no good. The coupler needs to press fit on. That may be contributing to some of the vibration. Just a suggestion.

Re: Clearance between prop and rudder
What is the measurement from the propeller to the rear of the strut? I'm understanding it should be around 3/4 of an inch.

1930 shaft log threads
I'm not familiar with this shaft log assembly that came in the parts box when we bought the boat. We received boxes of parts and I sure some were not for this boat. This was the only shaft log supplied so I'm hopeful this is the correct one. My question is, does the packing box hose go over the thre...

Alternator wiring help needed
This is an early 60's vintage alternator with external voltage regulator. I need help understanding what wire and wire size goes to the four terminals. I see B is marked FLD so that will get FLD labeled wire from the regulator. Thank you.

Re: 1930 20 ft Model 100 battery box and location
I was able to come up with a tool box photo from Nermie a 1929 22 ft model 1. She was brought to the Algonac show by the nice folks from Great Lakes Boat Building School. Nikki and Matt were more than helpful with information.

Hello Captain Nemo! Thank you for the tip. Yesterday at the Algonac show I did get the same answer from a local restorer. I now need to consider if it's worth the time and effort.

Another deck seam question
Our boat was restored using the Danenberg enhanced traditional method per the book. My deck seams between planks are opening up causing cracks in the paint. Sikaflex was used for the seams and a interlux boot stripe paint for the white. When the boat sits in the sun for the day the cracks get worse....

1930 20 ft Model 100 battery box and location
I've duplicated the flooring in the engine compartment from the pieces that came with our boat. What I do not know is the factory location of the battery box or any other tool compartments that may have been installed when new. I do have a battery box interior size and general location from John K. ...

There's two of these listed in the hull registry, I would contact those folks directly. James Evans from Michigan is on Facebook and the other lists their email address. Good luck!

Re: 1956 Sportsman 17 K Engine Prop shaft length
Thanks Greg,
Do you know what engine the boat had originally? I'm sure it was a Hercules 6 cylinder. There should be some tail tell signs of where it was unless the stringers and engine risers have been removed. Post up some photos of what you have. Just keep the image size small or it will not post.

Re: 1956 Sportsman 17 K Engine Prop shaft length
I do not have a length but once you get the K engine in the boat with the correct mounts and the shaft coupler on the transmission you should be able to insert a round piece of something long enough to extend three and three quarters of an inch past the strut. That is the length of my prop shaft. If...

That makes good sense although my grease guns will leak too after a while of sitting. The penrite lube is very thick although not as thick as wheel bearing grease.

1930 Gemmer Steering Box Leak
Should there be a gasket at the front between these two pieces shown in the middle photo or is there an internal seal? I've added penrite oil and it's seeping out.

I'm not sure how to remove the glass and the seal prior to sending it in for chrome plating. I'm going to replace the glass with new as well as remove the snaps and have the holes filled. Thanks.
