I am trying to remove the plug from the temperature sensor port on a 1957 Chris Craft A engine. Appears to be a brass or bronze plug with an allen wrench in the center, and seems to be very tight. 3/8" allen wrench does not fit snugly. Should I be trying something else?

My KBL starts to miss at 3000 rpm after about 30 mins of run time. Slow down an it runs fine. Temp is at 150 degrees. Just started this, any ideas about what is going on.
