On oct 1st. knotty 48 mentioned about hooking up the exhaust pipe. Because of " cold air getting to the valves". Never heard of peopledoing that. What the reasoning behind that? Does it have to do with back pressure?

If you read the craigslist description. The boat for sale is not the boat pictured. Sorta makes you wonder why the owner didnt post pictures of his boat. Wonder what kind of condition it really is in, even for $50000?

carb bump engine box

I finally measured my engine cover( 18' 1952 sportsman w/ a klc ) inside dimensions are 27.5 x 48 inches sorry it took so long i didnt get to go upnorth when i planned earlier. Thanks mr staib for the spec sheet. DPW1959 : The previous may have put that different prop because of more weight in the boat ( either people or gear or both) and that helped him get on plane faster or more top speed.

Hessel-les chenaux(sp) antique boat show is this weekend in upper penisula of mich. Its a nice show, great location if you can attend. They always have a good selection of boats to view . The show is saturday Aug.11 2012

Starting engines

I ve been to hessel (last 3yrs) and many others in michigan over the last couple years and i dont recall them starting up. If they did it in madison i hope they continue i think its a fun part of the show. Especially if they have the old lycoming,herc, or scripps or possibly curtises.....

Pulling trans on engine in boat

I dont knw if someone has mentioned it or not but you need to suck ALL the REMAINING OIL out of the engine and take the cover off the trans and suck out all that oil also..... because boat motors sit so low in the boat theres really no good way to get to the drain plugs.. machanics an boat owners us...

Most people onthe buzz would advise against a electric pump because of fire if your engine dies your pump may continue to pump fuel to a hot engine. Mfine the link to prop numbers is not really what he needs. Hans needs to know if that is the right size prop for his particular boat.
