KL exteriot coolant line

Post by trebot » Sat Nov 14, 2020 7:54 pm

Have a '56 KL. It has a coolant line that runs fron the front of cylinder head to carb mount on intake manifold and out the back to the exhaust elbow. Was told it is to warm the fuel.
I thought cold fuel was better combustion.

Warming the fuel mixture helps it to atomize better than when cold. Carbs being the inefficient things that they are have been notoriously heavy on the fuel droplets. Modern fuel injection, not so much but they need a computer to regulate properly and reliably. Under certain conditions of temperature and humidity, manifold warming can help with the icing problem of the lowered pressure venturi effect in the carb and throttle.
