Re: Factory Plate Location
Are you looking for them to find the Hull Number or looking for the location to place them?
If you're looking for the Hull Number, it is stamped into various places on the boat frames. The restoration experts should be able to direct you to the usual locations.

Re: Factory Plate Location
Hull ID plate I believe was on bulkhead aft of engine. Prop ID plate (I think) was on engine hatch (port).
I would get corroboration before driving nails.

Re: Factory Plate Location
Actually, the plate is on the inside of the port engine hatch, i believe. I can get you a picture if you like. there is a '36 here in the inland empire chapter.

Engine hatches were the first place I looked with no luck. Thanks as I will be taking possession soon and be able to scrutinize more carefully.
Re: Factory Plate Location
They very well may have been lost and can be reproduced. But the key is the hull no. which is stamped in many places in the innards of the boat.

Re: Factory Plate Location
I believe I found the hull number today on the engine hatch(s) forward frame, #13159. It is an estate sale purchase. Nephew of former owner claims he has a small plate with nails saved/taped to plate back with his paperwork. I assume this is the prop ID. He found a spare prop along with some hardware. Does an 11" x 11" prop sound right for an original? Boat was repowered with a Y block TBird engine and I assume repropped too.
Thanks for the interest and your posts. Its great to know I can rely on support and advise from people who have been through a restoration!

Oops, try # 43159. That seems to agree with other '36s in registry.

Oops again.
With thanks to Jim Hooker of the Mariners Museum, we have determined that the hull # is 48159.
This puts it in the correct order of the 19' Custom Runabout series that ran from '35-'38 with nos. 4800-48327.

Re: Factory Plate Location
that's super.can't remember exactly but early on the 19' was just a runabout. Around the 38 model year they started referring to it as the 19' custom runabout. fwiw.
