Through Hull's

Post by dougz » Sun Aug 14, 2016 4:42 am

Hello - I am just about finished instilling a new bottom on my 1941 17' barrel back. When I removed the old bottom it had 3 through hull holes in it. Drain Plug, Cooling intake & I assume a siphon for pulling water from the bilge. Now that I am about to finish a new bottom I am thinking the less holes in it the better. Everything from the waterline down is new with 5200. Should I include the drain & siphon in the new bottom? Thanks.

I'd eliminate the siphon/self bailer hole and go with an automatic bilge pump set up. I think it's a good idea to keep the drain plug hole to drain any rain or spray water that gets in. Congratulations on the new bottom job! Post some pictures.
