Shipping a cruiser overseas

Post by MikeN » Thu Jul 28, 2016 6:04 pm

I have a potential buyer for my pre-war 33' cruiser. Any ideas on how to ship to Greece?

I have an acquaintance who's CC Cruiser went from Maine to Milaysia.

Good luck.

You can certainly go as deck transport on a freighter, or you can use an outfit like Dockwise yacht transport. These guys make regular trips to major yachting service ports, and have a fleet of specialized float on float of ships that allow them to transport boats of practically any size. The good part about using them vs a freight carrier is that they are more careful about your boat than a general freight ship would be. They also have a ship that you can go on and accompany your boat if you like.

If the beam is under 8' you can probably fit the boat in a 40' container. That Would be the safest and least expensive way to transport it. Dockwise would be very expensive. Deck cargo may require a steel cradle so they can weld the cradle to the deck.
