1955 22' Continental Information wanted

Post by Steve Deligan » Tue May 03, 2016 12:06 pm

Hello,

We are the lucky owners of a rebuilt 1955 22' Chris Craft Continental, and we are looking for any information that may be out there. A search of the archives revealed a few ads (catalogs and such).

Is there a brochure on just the Continental? Owners manual? Any other original documentation? It's really only for our interest but anything you can offer would be appreciated.

By the way, our boat was rebuilt by a gentleman near us in Seattle. It looks and runs great! Probably not very authentic for CC purists, but it suits us perfectly! And it sure turns heads too. We do not intend to return it to show room correctness, but rather are just curious to compare our modern interpretation to the original.

Thanks!

Steve

Steve, there are 4 other 22-foot Continentals in our Hull Registry that you could look over. Feel free to try to contact any of the owners of these. Oh, and register yours while you're in there.

Here are a few pics so far. We have a name but it is not marked yet. One of this summer's projects.

File_002 (1).jpeg
File_003 (1).jpeg
Again, it is not very "correct". But it is very useful and we really enjoy it!

5200 bottom.
305 GM engine with fresh-water cooling system.
Throttle and transmission arms are more modern and on the starboard wall instead of in the middle.
Not a whole lot of original wood but a few planks and such are original.
Custom trailer.
Gauges and wheel are not correct, neither is the front bench (he added a walk-through). He also added triangular back-facing seats aft of the front seats. They're actually really nice.

More to come later.

Thanks!

Steve

Doesn't matter if she's not 100% original. The important thing is that she was saved and it looks like the changes and modifications are nicely done. That becomes part of her history. Enjoy the boat as she is and have fun.

Steve I am with joanroy on this.

She is a BEAUTY! Those extra seats look great and would be very useful.

IMHO some of the modified boats are more interesting than the originals. It adds to their story. :D

Among the most handsome utility designs of the era and my favorite. Thank you Don Mortrude.

Done. Just registered it with this group, but only with the little information I know about it. So now there are 5 1955 22' Continentals. Thanks!
