I believe that CC screws matched the rub rail. Do not know the screw size and material CC used on the rub rails I am going to use #6- 1 1/4" stainless oval head screws for the formed / stamped (not solid) stainless steel rub rails on a '52 Riviera unless someone has a better suggestion.

I used SS on my rubrail. They are a tad darker, but my rail is aluminum, not stainless.

We went with a stainless phillips oval head. Small enough to fit just about flush with the rail. I cant recall what size but buy a couple samples and see what fits best.

I would think generally on an 18' boat 6x1 1/4" or whatever length you need SS oval head would be perfect.

As a note; if you have to drill new holes for the rub rail screws, getting them in the center of the rub rail holes can be challenging. If you're off, either the rail ends up crooked or the screw head looks cocked. A really handy item is a special drill bit called a VIX bit. It is a self centering bit available in 3 different sizes. They're used for centering the screws on door hinges as a miss-drilled hole there can cause the door to be misaligned. I have used these for rub rails and other center critical holes for mounting hardware -they work great and are fairly inexpensive.

I do like the idea behind the Vix bit, the rail will be going into new wood and I hadn't given it much thought about perfect centering. Thanks everyone for all the ideas. I will go with #6 Stainless oval heads which is what I had planned.
