1956 30' Sea Skiff Boarding Ladder

Post by PaulK » Fri Mar 14, 2014 11:46 am

Below is my first post that I posted in the Sea Skiff Enthusiast section. No response and that section seems a bit dead.....so I thought I would repost it here.

Hi All,

This is my first post as I am just starting a complete restoration of a 1956 30' Sea Skff Cabin Cruiser. Now that I have started I am already asking myself questions as I uncover her from years of paint. I have stripped the Starboard side half way and found where I think there was a boarding ladder attached. Does anyone know what this ladder might have looked like?

Also, does anyone have a boat or pictures of one like this? I would really love to trade stories and pics with someone who has one or knows about them. I cannot find a pic of one exactly like this on google.

Any and all help is much apprciated.

Many thanks in advance!

I agree, beautiful lines. I am guessing the ladder mounting hardware was aftermarket. I could be wrong but I have never seen CC add this kind of hardware.

Good luck with this great looking vessel. 8)

Would this be the same type of boarding ladder?

Thanks!

I have been looking for a ladder like this. My son works in Westbrook. I will call on it tomorrow. :)

Hi, Paul-

I agree- go get that one in Westbrook, CT- it's true-blue CC issue and looks to be about the right length for your 30' Sea Skiff (she's unbelievably beautiful, Paul)!

Here's my shorter 6-step CC mahogany boarding ladder for my 22 Sea Skiff:

Mine's going on the transom, but they can also mount to the hull-sides by the aft spray rails as shown on the DCFB above. Mounting hardware might vary for transom or side-mount options...my transom mount ladder clips look like small rectangular belt buckles that the tops of the ladder hook into.

Good luck in you swim ladder quest; the right ladder will be an attractive period-correct accessory!
