Special order ! R&P sz10 Long chrome screws
I have an opportunity to order new R & P chrome plated silicon bronze size 10 wood screws 3 1/2 inches long. These fasteners are used to hold the front seat backs in many chris craft post war boats. I do not need two life time supplies of these, but if you want some I may pull the trigger and order them. Also thinking about ordering size 14 in 1 1/2 inch length. picture is of used fasteners that are an example of special order. This may take 3 to 4 months , thanks, steve

I could use about 6-8 of them. Count me in.

Are you sure they are r&p and not frearson? Jim Hastings bought the screw machines from the closed r&p factory and was quite adamant that he was the only supplier of true r&p screws. One can tell by looking closely at the head. Your photos are a little oblique, but based on what i can make out, they seem to have the wider frearson slots. Can you post a head shot? I am not sure Jim is making them anymore so this may be the only practical alternative. I recently posted a picture comparing the two on the buzz.

Here is a picture and comparison of the old fastener from a chris craft and the new ones I have on the shelf from my supplier. My supplier lists them as R and P , but you are correct Jim H. owns the tooling and maybe the name for R and P ? Call these nice copies of the original correct post war chris craft and others chrome plated wood screws for hardware and seat framing. steve

Thanks Steve, see my photo under research related, reed and prince. I think the main difference is that the r&p slots are narrower, so the center hole is smaller, and they give a much crisper look. I am not sure what Jim is up to, or even if he is still with us. Hope so. now there is a purist for you. A very nice guy, and extremely helpful. Someone last year or so.said he had moved, as I recall maybe to the U P?

Price based on quantity, right now there is not enough interest to make the minimum order.

I could use 8 and depending on cost would order 16 and have the eight as spares. Have to check on the 1 1/2" #14, nor sure where they are used on my 21" Capri .What is the min you have to order ??

Re: Special order ! R&P sz10 Long chrome screws
Steve,
I will buy 50 if the price is around a buck a screw. The seat back screws I am used to seeing in the runabouts are #10x3.5" like you say, but are flat head, unplated, like in a Racing Runabout for example.
Thanks for doing this.

Re: Special order ! R&P sz10 Long chrome screws
Thanks for everyone's interest in the 3 1/2' chrome plated fearson, { R and P } size 10 wood screws. The minimum special order is 5000 pcs , I can order 1000 but the set up for the special length will drive the cost, and chrome plating will drive up the cost , not to mention shipping. I project the price at 2 bucks a piece. I only have interest in less that 200 at this time, thus we are not even close to pulling the trigger on this idea.

Maybe someone should try to track down Jim Hastings and his screw making machines.

I pulled trigger on the size 10 frearsen 3 1/2 inch chrome plated wood screws. THIS is the one time deal for the guys and gals from the ccabc and woody boater . 2 bucks a screw for orders of 50 pcs or more , 2.50 each for piece work, you pay the shipping. first come first serve . if you do not like them, send them back for a full refund. 3 to 6 months delivery, PM me, thanks, steve
