There were a couple styles. Engine mount or hull mount?

Matt,

I sent you a private message. Maybe I should have sent it public so you may reply the public way.

I am looking for the same thing for my 1959 Continental. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I reproduce the engine mounted ski tow assembly for the flywheel forward 283's.

I'm also considering an engine mount pylon for a 1960 18' Continental. I've heard that the pylon was an option for the Continental. Can anyone confirm that this option was available for this boat?

Yes is was an option. You can see for yourself if you go to the club homepage and select archive under the member benefits header. If you get the magic search terms correct (not always easy) you will find the 1960 sports boats catalog. The search result just give the cover, but if you click more from this issue you will see thumbnails for each page. Ski tow is listed as optional equipment for the 18 continental (page 4). It was also an optional for the ski boat (page 3) which is a bit odd.

Couple of notes on the ski tows.

They were an option on a lot of boats. The price sheet for your year model will tell you. Also believe it or not even if chris craft called the boat a ski boat you still had to pay extra for the ski tow. It did not come standard.

When chris craft started making the engine mount ski tows for the 283 flywheel forward and the 283F and 327F you could buy it from chris craft and put it on any model with those motors.

Also here are some pictures of the 283 flywheel forward ski tow assembly that I reproduce.

It mount on the front cover.

Jim,

Are you still currently reproducing the ski pole brackets?

Thanks,

Matt

While we're on the subject of Ski Poles, I need the bracket for a 327Q if anyone has one laying around. I'm not sure this one will work on a Q. The major issue is that, to my knowledge, this particular bracket was only used on the '69 & '70 Ski Boat, and was an option on those, so there is a very small number of them ever produced. Any thoughts? I found a real nice Ski Pole a few years ago, but don't have the bracket.

I recently purchased a ski pylon/mount that bolts to the flywheel cover of the 283 FWF and went to install it yesterday. Looks like it could either bolt between the cover and block (which seems more sturdy) or to the forward face of the cover. The former option would require moving engine mount holes in the stringers because the bracket is 3/8 inch thick and would move the flywheel cover (and integrated engine mounts) forward that far. Which is the correct way to install the bracket, between the block and the flywheel cover or on the face of the cover?
