chris craft capri 55 or 56
My title says 55 chris craft capri. My serial # is
CP 19 350.
The card says it was shipped in February 1956.
So I was wondering if it is actually a 1956.
Does that change the upholstry colors or any thing else?

interior
Cerulean blue
When I first saw the interior I thought it had been redone but the hull card says Cerulean Blue.

That is pretty unique upholstery for that model. I don't know how many 19's came that way, but I doubt very many, your's may have been special ordered that way. Can you post your hull card?

Cerulean Blue is listed for a couple 21-footers. Would be worth tracking down those owners if possible to make sure you have the right shade.Don Ayers wrote:You might note in the latest issue the 21' Capri has the full data base published. They made a lot more of the 19' version but it would be interesting.
What type of flooring does your hull card list?

latest issue
Don,
When you refer to the latest issue are you refering to the Brass Bell? The last issue I have is the fall 09. I did not see anything in there on the 21 ft Capri?

Thanks for posting the hull card.
It says right on there that your boat was special ordered with the Cerulean Blue upholstery in place of standard (special flame/black/white). Very cool! You have something very unique in the Capri series!
Also, another give-a-way of a '56 vs. a '55 is the wood ceiling boards, rather than upholstered like the '55s.

Thanks Don & Brian. Looking forward to getting my Winter Brass Bell.
This has been a real experience.
Thanks Brian for the info.
Not sure why my title says 1955. I will probably never know. I am sure I can get it changed.

CaptBob;
Hard to tell from the pics but are you thinking that the material in your boat is the original?? Does it match the sample on the card Brian posted?
Agree with Brian, really cool deal with that interior.
Would love to see you continue that or replicate as close as you can.
I think Basler might have a source for a manufacturer that can do small custom runs

I was thinking about keeping it the same if I can come up with the material. Besides my wife likes the color. That makes it an easy decision.
I sent an e mail to tupper & twiggs and they thought they may be able to come up with something close if I sent them a sample, which I will do when I get to that point.
The interior is the original I am sure of that. When I took the dash apart and inside the crash bumper etc I have a few untouched by sun samples.

Bruce, you must mean you have 21-074, the last '55, and shipped to Hot Springs, AR. 075 was the first '56 shipped to NYC.

Don,
I just read your reply again. I did not answer you. I think the color is correct but the seats I think have been redone. I think the back rests are original but the seats were redone. I think they should have a 3 piece cushion, Mine are 1 piece. I would like to find a picture of what they look like so I can replicate.
