propeller shaft strut

Looking to replace the shaft struts on my boat. Cleaned them up and found the ABW logo with 5657 for the port strut, and 56593 on the starboard strut. I am almost certain that they are original, though the different numbers has me scratching my head a little. My boat is a 1965 Crusader, hull number VXD-28-007.

Are there ways to trace these parts numbers so that I can find exact replacements? Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks!
Rob

try Algonac Cast Products Inc.

They probably made your original struts.

Casting numbers match up. Your starboard is likely newer as suggested by the extra digit (3). The latest part number was listed as 04.21-56573 (port) and 04.21-56593 (STB).

Algonac casting will be interested in the casting number but the entire CC part number may prove useful.

Algonac Castings has cast parts for me in the past . If they still have the patterns not much of as issue. If the patterns are gone then a whole new ballgame. We re-cast struts for the 27 ft custom a while back and had to start from scratch due to the loss of the original pattern in a basement flood. We had to stand a minimum run. I think we have more struts than surviving boats.

You might want to call Earl at Marine Sales & Repair in Harrison Township, Michigan. 586-468-0937. I heard he was selling but hopefully he is still there. I'm sure Jim knows the low down.

Thank you gentlemen... called Algonac Castings today and talked to Pam. New struts on the way. Couldn't have been easier. Really appreciate the help!

Cheers,

Rob

Out of curiosity, why are you replacing them? Unless bent or damaged, all you have to do is replace the strut bearings.

Not only that but if there bent you can send them to Smith and Company in Algonac, MI. They can straighten struts for usually less then new ones.
