57 Continental 18'

Post by Dadio » Tue Feb 17, 2015 9:22 am

I have a pair of chocks for my Continental that came with the purchase but I don't think they are right. They are brass chrome plated but are 6" long. I think from what I've seen and read, the 18' came with 4 1/2" chocks. I understand that it was whatever
the dealer had on hand sometimes but would like to make sure they aren't to big for this application. Does anyone know for sure?
Regards, Dadio

I just looked at the Spec Sheet that's in our Archive for the '57 Continentals. There's a photo of the 18' that has no checks but photos of the other length models show them. I'm sure they would have been shorter than 6". More likely the 4-1/2" open with teardrop base. There's a 1957 Accessories Catalog in the Archive as well.

Thanks Al. These 6" are open with a teardrop base. I tried to match up screw holes on deck seemed to match but hard to tell since it is upside down getting a new bottom. My drawings from the antique boat museum show chocks.
