Half Mile Ray #833 Parts

Post by Tekakwitha » Thu Feb 05, 2015 12:08 pm

Missing Light Part.jpg
Sample light above with red arrow on missing part. My light below with missing part (zoom and look closely under the gear)

Hi - I'm missing a single part from an otherwise perfect Half Mile Ray #833 search light. Without the part, water pours down the shaft and leaks directly on to my helm. The missing part is a collar just under the gear (see photo). Does anyone have an old #833 light lying around? I'm hoping to track down this somewhat critical part.

It is the same light Chad and I've been in contact with the seller. I'm working to find a little less expense fix to my problem. $240 with shipping is a tad rich (for now). The price you pay when you are smitten with vintage Chris Craft fever. Thx for the link.

Hi everyone. Please see start of this post.

I'm still searching for my missing part or a complete light to pirate the needed part. Leads would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

I know where there is a searchlight in an old skiff. Will check friday to see if it looks the same or not. Will get a picture if I can.

I'm not sure exactly what you need. Is it on either of these?

Thanks very much for checking. Looks like maybe my missing part is on your first light. The part is a small collar just under the gear. It appears to have very small set screws near the top. I posting another picture with a red arrow pointing to the missing part. This is picture of a light I saw on a boat at a boat show. The owner never left is boat unattended! Good thing for him! Just kidding.

Odd fact. Color blind people (me) can't see red arrows on chrome

After I had a little help from the seeing eye dog it took less than an hour to figure out how to get the part off. Had I known what it looked like I could have made one from a beer bottle top way faster
They will never make quality lights like this again.

That appears to be exactly what I'm looking for Jim. So the big question, how many marbles? I guessing I can find your contact info on your website?

I look forward to speaking with Jim and am thrilled to see the part. What a previledge to be part of this group and the current caretaker of classic Chris craft art!

So I got a .15 part that it took an hour to find and remove. Got a runabout part to trade?

No runabout parts but I do have these throttle covers from the helm of my 66 37 Connie ( I ended up with an extra set).

Or I'm glad to pay old fashion cash. Does $30 bucks sound fair for your 15 cent part, your time, and food for your seeing eye dog?

Problem solved!

A huge thanks to Jim Staib of Finewoodboats.com! I can't believe Jim had this part. He actually had a light and was willing to pull the part from the light to solve my problem. Gentlemen like Jim make this club a special place.

THANKS AGAIN JIM!

PS - the dog treats are in the mail Jim (along with a little something for your trouble).

After Keith got his .15 part and made sure it fit he offered CASH. I said to trade me some boat parts. I told him no cruiser parts just runabout stuff. He didn't have any so it was Dog treats or cash?? Me and the seeing eye dog (Jaxon) voted on it.
I got outvoted by four paws.

Told Keith about the vote and the verdict was dog treats 8)
The treats arrived and one happy dog

Bonus for me  NOT needed but THANKS!!
