cutlass bearing length

Post by Kerry Price » Tue Apr 11, 2023 9:23 am

I need to replace my cutlass bearing. My strut is 1-1/4" dia X 5" long but the only bearings I can find are either 4" or 6" long. This is for a 1" dia. shaft. Will the 4" long bearing work or do I need the 6" bearing and cut it down to 5"?

Use the 4" and run the rear flush. Makes it easier to get water in for lubrication.
