1956 Chris-Craft Sportsman Utility rub rail: chrome or stainless?

We're in the process of having our 1956 17' Sportsman Utility (Captain's Gig) restored and are curious to know if the original rub rail was polished chrome or stainless steel? Let me know what you can, thanks!

The rails on my 55 17' Sportsman were polished stainless steel.
1966 Lyman Cruisette 25 foot "Serenity Now!"
1953 Chris Craft Sportsman 22 foot "Summerwind"

Stainless steel. Polish them up!
