I'm looking for information on where the Chris-Craft script decals should go on a 1949 Custom (20 ft.). I've heard that it's on the 2nd plank down, but not sure about fore/aft position. Thanks.

The experts should chime in here. The center star of the decal is supposed to line up with some part of the windshield.......I am just not sure which part. There is something in the archives on this topic. Do a search on it.

That is correct with the placement in the middle of the second plank down. Then just like the photo.

Actually, on the 20-Custom the scrip was a little further back (but still on the second plank). The star is directly under the the little socket where the wind wing goes into the deck. Also, usually it was aluminum leaf - not a decal (check hull card).

Brian,
Do you know when the change over to decal was made?

The decal was used as early as '46 but most of the 20-Customs specified the aluminum or silver leaf script. Not all though - the hull card will say.
