I am about to undertake the refinishing of my 21' 1964 sea skiff's hull. I am looking for the best source of step by step instructions. I have Danenberg's book but it is light on the details of paint removal, and refinishing.

There are two volumes. Do you have both? I don't know of a better source. They are mostly carvel planked info vs lap strake tho. Be careful not to sand thru the outside layer of the plywood. It is paper like.

Thank you Jim. I am obviously using the term
Lapstrake incorrectly.

I do have both volumes. The book does not seem to address best paint removal methods and best repainting approaches specific to these boats. Scraping vs. sanding vs heat for example. I am also perplexed by CPES as there appears to be diverse views on its use in this situation.

Sounds like you recommend sanding. Hand, random orbit, or palm sander?

What about a scraper and to heat or not to heat?

So many questions. 😀

Try using paint stripper in a test area. I would scrape it then use steel wool. Look at the paper outer surface and avoid breaking through the paper.
