Correct Firing Order

Post by gallagh59 » Tue Jul 26, 2016 9:28 pm

OK; I know I am overthinking this subject but I need some clarity; if you please!

I have a 1959 CC Continental 283 V8 185hp. (flywheel forward).

What is the correct firing order???? I believe the engine was wired wrong when I purchased it.

Where is the #1 cylinder. I'm guessing if the flywheel if forward the #1 cylinder will be starboard side, first cylinder in the rear????? Also, Where should the rotor be pointing when the #1 cylinder is at top?

I've read through the blogs and came up with three different scenarios.

I know this is a simple thing but it's keeping me up at night!!!

Thanks!

Note that the firing order will look odd to a car guy because CC renumbered the cylinders.

There are several sources for a manual, both downloads and hard copies. Just google Chris craft 283 engine manual to identify them.

Why go to the expense of buying a manual. Jim Staib can answer all your questions 8)
