Copper Exhaust Manifold Dent Repair

We have a Chrysler Crown M-27 copper exhaust manifold that has a couple of dents. Anyone have a repair source? We're in Spokane, WA.

You could try it yourself with a map gas torch and tailpipe expander. If you get the cheap Harbor Freight expander buy some good heat tolerant o rings as theirs will break in the pipe.

If you do not want to do it yourself you could try a muffler shop.

Call House of Hose on Sprague. They could direct you.

Thanks for the suggestion. The manifold has an inner liner for the water jacket, so need to attack it from the outside. I could always braze a stud on it, heat it up, and try to pull it out. Don't know if my skill set is at that level but could probably figure it out. A good body man might be able to do it.

Will contact the House of Hose. Great idea!

Thanks again!

Remember any time you heat copper you may permanently lose what tensile strength you have in the tube. It can not be quenched with oil or water to harden. This is why when I have an exhaust pipe bent, I only heat the bend area and as you stretch the pipe it will re harden that area.

A stud welder dent puller is the only thing I can think of.

At the SML chapter workshop we learned that someone in your area that repairs musical instruments (Trumpets. or clarinet, etc.) will be able to repair your pipe
