Does a Jabsco 5850 water pump need a reducer for a KL engine

When replacing the water pump on a KL engine to a Jabsco impeller type do you need to add a reducer? If so what size is it? I assume on the output.

To be specific that is a Jabsco 5850 that is spec’s for an M engine with higher flow. That has a 3/4 inch outlet and I am told that you add a transition of a 1/2 inch on the output to reduce it for a KL engine. Is this correct?
