283 exhaust tip turndowns

Post by tbcruiser » Wed May 15, 2024 10:57 am

I repowered my 1955 Cruiser from a K to 283 with dual exhaust. All went well. However I'm considering adding turn down tips to the 2 1/2" straight exhaust tips i now have to reduce the noise a bit. They sit about 1" off the water line with the boat at rest.
I've searched a bit about the potential for water rushing back up the exhaust pipe, and logic to me says with turn downs that would be less likely to happen since there wouldn't be a straight opening for the path of the water ?
Anyone have experience or opinion with this?
