Water Pump Rebuilding

Post by BULLGR » Mon Dec 05, 2022 8:06 pm

Hello new comer (back after 15 year hiatus) to group. I have a 1961 17ft Ski Boat which originally came with 283. Have original generator and pump. It is a dual Brass pump with Rubber impellers. Anyone have the model of this? no numbers on it.Image

That's not a Chevrolet pump. If it were the part number would be on the surface where the gasket is when removed.

I have since found out it is a sherwood and is a Chrysler Double pocket pump. Have all the parts except for the 5/8 seals(2) to go between two chambers. Anyone know of numbers for these - don't show on Sherwood schematics.

Try Steve Buttrick @ C & S Marine Pumps in FL.
[email protected]
He has rebuild kits for the Sherwood pump used on the other 283s.

Any luck?

I rebuilt mine over a year ago. Rebuild kits were not cheap but third of the price of a new one. I'll have to dig up the box of parts and re-research what I did... but I will if you still need answers.
