High Oil Pressure in KFL

Post by L76 » Tue Jul 19, 2022 10:03 am

KFL motor. See 75 psi @ 2400 RPM and higher. 45 PSI @ idle (800 RPM in neutral). Noticing a little oil in the engine bay... but cannot identify where it's coming from... Thoughts?

Thx Badger85. Found the oil leak. Bad fuel pump gasket. Still getting high oil pressure. Compression test shows 90 psi in all holes except cyl 2 (70 psi). This at 6500 ft elevation (Lake Tahoe). Put a little PB lube in the valves, retorqued heads, ran boat, retorqued heads, and... still 70lbs in cyl 2 and high oil pressure (75 psi @ 3000 RPM / 45 psi @ idle). I'll run my oil pressure test gauge (plug her in behind the oil cooler?) as a reference... but is there a oil pressure adjustment screw or something on these motors?

Cheers,

There is an adjustment screw in the crankcase behind the starboard side pan cover. You have to drain the oil down and remove the cover to access the locknut and screw. Recommend that you obtain a new gasket or two for the cover. I cannot remember which way you turn the screw but someone on here will know.

Thx Bilge Rat.

Anyone know where I can find these gaskets? Been looking online, starting to think I may have to make them.
Is the access panel (cover) I'm looking for the one behind the dipstick in the attached screen shot?

Fine Wood Boats has the gaskets. Here is the end of the oil pump that you will find when you remove that plate. Call 815 344-9663 M -Th to order.
