Repowering 1956 MCL, best alternate?

Post by joesoboti » Mon Sep 13, 2021 2:04 pm

What is the best engine for me to repower with for our 1956 23' Continental. I'd like to get about 265 HP.
Thanks!

If it were mine I'd do all I could to keep the original engine. If that were not possible my best choice would be a 454. Second would be a 350.

Thanks Jim. I've been looking at 350's but haven't considered a 454. I'll check it out.

You may already realize this, but you will have to redesign the engine box to accommodate a V8 of any size, even a Chris Craft 283.

Thanks, yes I do realize that. Good thing that the wood working part of this is my strong skill, the engine a little less so! :)
