1930 26' model 111 CC "Contessa"
ISO: an engine for Contessa! She originally came w/ an A-120. I'm thinking of sacrificing authenticity for modern power. Are there any vintage engines out there? Or should I go modern? I would prefer a 300HP model, if there is such a thing!

I believe Jim Staib at finewoodboats.com has an A-120 for sale.
Remember...it's only money.

Yes. I have an A-120 and a pair of 1929 Scripps 202s. One from Hull #898. See them at http://www.finewoodboats.com/ML%20engines.htm

Re: 1930 26' model 111 CC "Contessa"
the a 120 had some design issues. whether you want to include one depends on how serious you are in wanting originality and willing to pay for it and put up with it.
Not sure how much sense it makes to use another vintage engine that was not an option and not related to that model boat?
a lot of people who want modern power use various crusader engines. you really need to consider how you plan to use the boat, the nature of the lake or river where it will be located, etc. If absolute originality isnt that important, there is a lot be to said for modern power for trouble free use. (speaking more or less as a strong purist, if you can believe it).
